Whenever I get off the bus I always thank the bus driver. I do it out of respect, but if you really look at it as brightening up somebody’s day. A smile, thank you, or a simple hello can make a difference when you speak to someone you don’t know. A person of authority or just a random person on the street can change their attitude. If you look at their reaction you can tell it makes them smile! Personally, when a random person speaks to me it makes me happy on the inside to know that people still have common courtesy, and are nice enough to speak to me. I’m the type of person who likes to help people and make them smile so when I speak to someone I don’t know and they smile back to me it makes me happy to know that I can brighten their day. A smile can change a day and make the world a happier place. People may walk around with a sad look on their face or even a look that is not inviting but a smile or a hello, or a “how are you?” That can change their day around. When I was in the ninth grade I would go around my school and speak to everyone even if I didn’t know them. I would start a conversation with them and let them know that there are still nice people out there. I would especially talk to the people who sat by themselves, I would even invite them to eat with me at lunch but that’s just the kind of person I am. I do that on a daily basis. But just the simple things matter so even if you’re walking down the street and you see someone with a frown on their face or it looks like their having a bad day just smile or say hi and make their day brighter cause a smile and a hi can do wonders!
